POWERTWIST™ ROPE 3-4-6 STRANDS
POWERTWIST™ is FBR’s range of twisted marine ropes, available in 3-, 4-, and 6-strand constructions. Material options include polypropylene, polyethylene, Danline (PP/PE), polyester, nylon (polyamide), and polypropylene–polyester blends. Its conventional twisted construction supports practical handling and spliced terminations for a variety of onboard tasks.
Nylon configurations provide elasticity that helps absorb dynamic loads, while polyester offers lower stretch where line movement needs to be limited. Polypropylene and polyethylene options provide lightweight, floating alternatives for suitable deck tasks. POWERTWIST™ can be selected for vessel berthing, fender lashings, and shipyard securing lines. Material, strand construction, diameter, and finished length are specified together to match the operating loads, connection arrangement, and working environment.

Material Selection Guide
| Material | Key Selection Advantage | Suitable Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Nylon (Polyamide) | Elasticity and energy absorption | Berthing lines where additional stretch helps manage vessel movement |
| Polyester | Lower stretch than nylon; abrasion resistance | Berthing and securing lines where limiting extension is important |
| Polypropylene or Polyethylene | Lightweight, floating options | Fender lines and deck utility tasks where buoyancy is useful |
| Danline (PP/PE) | Floating option with higher breaking strength than standard PP | Mooring and working lines requiring a stronger polyolefin option |
| Polypropylene–Polyester Blend | Combines low-density PP with polyester's wear resistance | Mooring and working lines selected for strength, handling weight, and wear performance |
*This guide supports initial material selection. Compare the specifications for the required construction and diameter. The buoyancy of polypropylene–polyester blends depends on the fiber ratio.
