HISTORY
Four Brothers Rope (FBR) originated from a family rope-making workshop founded by Changfu Li in 1958. Over three generations, it has grown into a globally recognized manufacturer of high-performance synthetic fiber ropes. Today, FBR serves the offshore, maritime, and fisheries sectors with reliable, innovative solutions, backed by decades of technical expertise and manufacturing excellence.
ORIGIN
Our founders handcrafted ropes from natural plant fibers in the early years, working through challenging conditions with limited resources and simple equipment.
INDUSTRIALIZATION
Linhai Qiangli Rope factory was established, marking FBR's transition from traditional rope making to industrial-scale manufacturing.
POWERNYLON®
POWERNYLON® was developed and quickly set a new benchmark for maritime mooring applications in China.
POWERDAN®
POWERDAN® polypropylene rope was introduced for fishing and aquaculture, quickly earning the trust of fishermen and establishing a strong market presence.
POWERNEEMA®
POWERNEEMA® HMPE rope was introduced for critical mooring operations, expanded FBR's high-performance rope portfolio.
MARINE RECOVERY OPERATIONS
FBR's rope and net system was selected to support the recovery operations of the Shenzhou spacecraft program.
MARITIME FOCUS
Maritime Division was established, dedicated to serve the shipping industry.
RENAMING
Officially renamed as Zhejiang Four Brothers Rope Co., Ltd.(FBR), marking a new stage of modernized corporate development.

POWER-MIXED® blended fiber rope was introduced for demanding applications.
OFFSHORE ENTRY
The Offshore Division was established to focus on deepwater mooring solutions, marking the company's strategic entry into the offshore energy sector.
POWER-WINCHLINE®
FBR developed the world's first 12-strand nylon tension rope for automatic mooring winches, eliminating the twisting issues of conventional 6-strand designs and significantly enhancing mooring safety and efficiency.
RECORD SERVICE LIFE
FBR supplied HMPE mooring ropes for 300,000 DWT VLCC - COSPEARL LAKE, achieving a world-record service life of over 17 years.
R&D FACILITIES ENHANCED
The R&D Center was equipped with tensile testers (50–2500 tons) and advanced testing systems to support innovation.
HYSY 981
FBR supported the mooring solution for China's first 3,000-meter-class deepwater drilling platform, HYSY 981 (CNOOC 981).
NEW FRONTIERS
FBR expanded rope applications across an increasingly diverse range of engineering projects, including river channel dredging, bridge collision protection and hydropower debris barrier systems, among others.
ENGINEERING BREAKTHROUGH
FBR completed three of the world's largest rope-making machines and successfully produced a 3,000-meter-long 12-strand hmpe rope with Dyneema® fibers.
JOINED CI
FBR Joined the Cordage Institute (CI), becoming a formal member of the global rope and cordage industry association.
INTO THE DEEPEST OCEAN
FBR was selected to supply UHMWPE deep-sea guide ropes for the Rainbow Fish project, China's first 11,000-meter manned submersible.
SINOROPE® Polyester
FBR delivered Asia's first deepwater polyester mooring rope, measuring 1,800 meters in length and weighing 32 tonnes.
POLAR RESEARCH VESSEL
Xuelong 2, China's first domestically built polar research vessel, selected FBR's UHMWPE mooring ropes for reliable operation in demanding polar environments.
VLOC FLEET PROJECT
FBR delivered UHMWPE mooring ropes for a fleet of 20 × 400,000 DWT VLOCs operated by China Merchants Group.
LIFTMAX® PLUS SLING
FBR developed LIFTMAX® PLUS rope slings, engineered specifically for heavy-duty and critical lifting operations.
STRATEGIC INVESTMENT
COSCO SHIPPING International (Hong Kong) acquired a strategic stake in Four Brothers Rope, marking a new chapter in its development.
NEW FACILITY COMMENCED
FBR's new facility commenced operations with an annual production capacity of 35,000 tonnes.
DEEP SEA NO.1
FBR supplied mooring ropes for Deep Sea No.1 offshore oil & gas platform, China's first 1,500-meter deepwater gas field.
HYDROPOWER CURTAIN WALL
FBR engineered UHMWPE rope netting solution for the world's first thermal stratification curtain wall trial project at the Sanbanxi Hydropower Station.
AQUACULTURE VESSEL
FBR supplied ropes for Guoxin 1, the world's first 100,000-tonne intelligent aquaculture vessel.
LARGEST CONTAINER SHIP
FBR supplied mooring ropes for Ever Alot, a 24,000 TEU container vessel and the world's largest by capacity at delivery.
2200-TONNE LIFT
LIFTMAX® PLUS slings were used to install three GTG generator modules (1,700–2,200 tonnes each) onto an FPSO.
HAIKUI-1
FBR provided the mooring rope solution for Haikui-1, a cylindrical FPSO installed by CNOOC in the Liuhua oilfield.
GREEN FORCE™
FBR Launched GREEN FORCE™, a bio-based rope product line designed to reduce carbon footprint across the manufacturing and supply chain.
DIGITALIZAION
FBR Launched the FIRM system, an intelligent platform for full-life-cycle mooring rope management, from procurement to decommissioning.
RECORD FLOATING WIND
The Three Gorges Pilot, the world’s largest single-unit 16 MW floating offshore wind platform, was fitted with FBR mooring ropes.
