SINOROPE® HMPE Mooring Rope
SINOROPE® HMPE Mooring Rope is a parallel-core rope that can also be used for floating offshore wind mooring. Its load-bearing cores use high-strength, marine-grade HMPE yarns. In the jacketed configuration, filter tapes help limit particle ingress while the outer cover protects the cores against external abrasion.
The rope combines a high strength-to-weight ratio with low elastic elongation, supporting designs that require lightweight mooring lines and high axial stiffness. It is suited to selected taut and semi-taut stationkeeping systems for semisubmersible and spar wind platforms, particularly in deep water where line weight and platform offset influence design. FBR supports rope selection around the required strength, stiffness, sustained loading, operating temperature, and design life, with protection and end connections matched to the project.

Selecting HMPE for Floating Wind Mooring
HMPE generally offers higher stiffness and lower elastic elongation than polyester. It is a relevant option when low line weight and limited platform offset are priorities. Polyester offers greater compliance, which may be preferable when the mooring system requires more elastic extension.
For long-term stationkeeping, HMPE selection must also address creep and creep rupture under sustained loading. Fiber grade, load history, operating temperature, and design life should be assessed alongside rope stiffness and fatigue performance. Project-specific rope data and mooring analysis are needed to confirm the final configuration.
