POWERNEEMA®
POWERNEEMA® is a high-strength HMPE (UHMWPE) rope for commercial fishing and aquaculture applications where low rope weight, low elongation, buoyancy, and high tensile capacity are critical.
With a density of approximately 0.97 g/cm³, POWERNEEMA® floats in water while providing a very high strength-to-weight ratio. Its low elongation and lightweight construction support controlled handling and reduced line weight in demanding fishing systems.
Available in 8-strand and 12-strand constructions, POWERNEEMA® is suitable for selected applications including trawl and bridle lines, purse seine lines, longline fishing lines, fishing-gear retrieval, and aquaculture mooring or structural lines.

WHY HMPE FOR COMMERCIAL FISHING?
HMPE is increasingly considered for commercial fishing applications where reducing rope weight without sacrificing strength is a priority.
Compared with conventional steel wire rope, HMPE can provide a much higher strength-to-weight ratio, while also offering low elongation, buoyancy, and practical handling characteristics.
Reduce Line Weight
The low density of HMPE allows high-strength rope systems to be handled with significantly less weight than comparable steel wire alternatives.
Maintain High Strength
HMPE provides very high tensile strength relative to its weight, making it suitable for applications where line strength is critical but rope weight affects handling and equipment requirements.
Improve Handling Efficiency
Lower rope weight can simplify deployment, retrieval, storage, and manual handling during fishing operations.
Low Elongation
HMPE generally has substantially lower elongation than nylon. This can provide a more controlled line response where excessive stretch is undesirable.
Buoyancy
HMPE has a density below that of seawater and therefore floats. This characteristic can be advantageous in selected fishing systems where line buoyancy is required.
Long-Term Marine Exposure
HMPE fibers offer good resistance to UV exposure and abrasion. Actual service life, however, depends on rope construction, loading, abrasion conditions, bending cycles, and operating practices.
