SINOROPE® Polyester Mooring Rope
SINOROPE® Polyester Mooring Rope can also be designed for long-term stationkeeping of floating offshore wind turbines. Its parallel-core construction uses multiple load-bearing cores made from high-strength, marine-grade polyester yarns. In the protected configuration, filter layers help limit particle ingress, while an outer jacket protects the cores against external abrasion.
Polyester combines tensile strength, elastic load response, good tension fatigue performance, and low creep under typical mooring loads. These characteristics make it a practical option for floating wind mooring lines, where strength and compliance must be balanced with platform offset limits. SINOROPE® can be specified for taut and semi-taut mooring arrangements, including systems for semisubmersible wind platforms, with rope properties and terminations matched to site conditions and installation requirements.

BENEFITS
- Elastic Load Response: Helps accommodate changing mooring loads from wind, waves, and platform movement.
- Lower Submerged Weight: Polyester rope sections reduce suspended line weight compared with steel alternatives, supporting offshore handling and installation.
- Load-Bearing Core Protection: Filter layers help limit particle ingress, while the outer jacket protects the cores against external abrasion.
- Long-Term Mooring Performance: Good tension fatigue performance and low creep under typical mooring loads support sustained stationkeeping duty.
APPLICATIONS
- Floating Offshore Wind (FOW) Mooring
- Renewable Energy Mooring
- Oil & Gas Platform Mooring
- FPSO & Floating Production Units Mooring
FEATURED PROJECTS
Selecting Polyester for Floating Wind Moorings
Polyester rope selection should balance mooring line loads with allowable platform excursions. Water depth, rope segment length, pretension, and mooring geometry determine how much compliance the system needs. This is particularly important in shallower water, where shorter lines can produce a stiffer response.
Use rope-specific quasi-static and dynamic stiffness data together with the design load cases and fatigue requirements. Check platform motions against the operating limits of the turbine and dynamic power cables. Terminations, seabed clearance, and installation handling should also be assessed as part of the complete mooring system.
