UHMWPE Debris Barrier Rope Net System at Gezhouba Hydropower Station

Gezhouba Hydropower Station

In 2014, Four Brothers Rope (FBR) supplied an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) net for a floating debris barrier at Gezhouba Hydropower Station on China’s Yangtze River.

Floating debris carried by river flow can accumulate near hydropower intakes and obstruct trash racks. At Gezhouba, debris interception and removal are part of the work required to manage this operational challenge.

FBR’s UHMWPE net was incorporated into a floating barrier upstream of the power station. A continuous series of flotation units supported the assembly at the water surface, with the net serving as the debris interception element.

The installation applied synthetic fiber netting to debris control within an operating hydropower facility, supporting the station’s debris management activities.
