FBR Supports the Mooring System for Deep Sea No. 1

Deep Sea No.1 oil&gas platform
Deep Sea No.1

Four Brothers Rope (FBR) supplied large-diameter polyester mooring ropes supporting the mooring system of the Deep Sea No. 1 deepwater energy platform.

The Deep Sea No. 1 Energy Station is a deepwater semi-submersible production and storage platform developed for the Lingshui 17-2 gas field in the South China Sea.

Operating in approximately 1,500 m of water depth, the platform is designed to withstand demanding offshore conditions, including typhoons and high waves. FBR participated in the project as a polyester mooring rope supplier, supporting the platform’s deepwater mooring system.

Deepwater mooring requires ropes that can provide high strength, reliable fatigue performance, and long-term durability under demanding marine conditions.

The project also required large-diameter synthetic ropes to be manufactured and delivered with consistent quality, while meeting the practical requirements of offshore installation and testing capabilities to be applied to a demanding large-scale offshore application.

FBR supplied large-diameter polyester mooring ropes for the platform’s mooring system.

The project brought together FBR’s capabilities in rope engineering, large-scale manufacturing, testing, and technical support. Polyester was selected for its combination of high strength, durability, and relatively low submerged weight, making it well suited to deepwater mooring applications.

FBR’s involvement extended beyond rope manufacturing.

During the pre-lay mooring operation, an adjustment was required to the deck securing arrangement for the polyester mooring rope. FBR quickly organized prototype work, prepared the required materials, and mobilized technical personnel to support the offshore installation.

The response was completed within a short timeframe, helping the installation team maintain project progress.

FBR’s SINOROPE is deployed in deepwater mooring project.

The Deep Sea No. 1 Energy Station entered production in June 2021.

FBR’s polyester mooring ropes were successfully incorporated into the platform’s mooring system, contributing to the station keeping of the deepwater facility.

The project demonstrated FBR’s ability to support demanding deepwater mooring applications not only through large-scale synthetic rope manufacturing, but also through testing, engineering coordination, and responsive offshore technical support.
