The 40th Chinese Antarctic Expedition departed from Shanghai with the research vessels Xuelong and Xuelong 2 playing a critical role in advancing polar scientific exploration. During this expedition, FBR contributed its advanced fiber rope technology, providing reliable support under extreme operating conditions.

Xuelong 2 Polar Research Vessel (H2560) is China’s first independently built polar scientific research icebreaker. Designed for continuous icebreaking operations in ice up to 1.5 meters thick, it represents a major milestone in China’s development of large-scale polar research equipment.

As an active participant in mooring projects for several nationally significant research vessels, FBR supplied a dedicated mooring line for the Xuelong 2 polar research vessel, meeting the demanding performance requirements of polar operations.

The mooring line is manufactured from UHMWPE fiber, offering exceptional strength, low weight, minimal elongation, and extended service life. Its outstanding tensile performance, combined with excellent resistance to ageing and chemical corrosion, ensured dependable mooring support for Xuelong 2, contributing to the smooth progress of the Antarctic scientific expedition.
